About the Independence Monument, by Clay Winder
While living in Ukraine as a church missionary for 2 years I discovered a people that love freedom and independence as much as Americans. The difference though was that many of my Ukrainian friends actually participated in the creation and birth of their independent country in 1991 from the Soviet Union. Imagine living during the time of our founding fathers!
Today Ukraine, the country, is only 31 years old and already facing its potential demise by its neighbor, Russia. However, this young country and its people have touched the hearts of the world by demonstrating a fierce commitment and love of their independence!
In the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv, in the heart of the city (like Temple Square here in Utah) you will find the statue of Independence Square. Like our Statue of Liberty it inspires and unites the Ukrainian people. Let this statue now unite us LEGO lovers in solidarity with the Ukrainian people as they defend their freedom and inspire the world!

The monument stands 8.7 " with a base of 3.1" x 3.1"
